I am sick today so I am home from school watching 'The Chew', a cooking show on TV. I learned that you can mix cooked bacon, sour cream and paprika together and put on nachos or baked potato for extra flavor. You can mix almost any herb or spice with sour cream to add extra flavor.
I think I am allergic to pepper so am not using it so much in my cooking.
I found out how to make a flower out of icing. It is hard but I figured it out and I am pretty good at it now.
After my transplant mum promised to buy be a lobster. We got one from Wholey's (my favorite seafood market). I prepared it by removing it from the shell, threw it on a hot pan for a couple of seconds to heat it up and ate it with salt. It was sooooo good.
I went to Ocean City and had the kids seafood feast at Hoopers Crab Shack. It was all you can eat crab, shrimp, corn, chicken and hush puppies. Of course I ate mostly crab and shrimp.

Yum Yum... we can have stuffed baked potato at Christmas when I visit - and how about 'crayfish' which is what we call Lobster - can't wait!!

Hi Matisse, My name is Alycia and I read the story about you in Parade magazine. Just like you, I was born with pseudo obstruction. I couldn't eat and was also on TPN. Doesn't it suck! Hey Matisse! Like many others, I just read your article in PARADE magazine. You are amazing, not just because you weren't able to eat for ten years, but because how you had determination. Even though you could not digest anything, you cooked everything! You are a beautiful, smart, talented girl who deserves a future like anyone else. You are an inspiration to many (including me). You want to be a chef, and many thought that would be impossible. I want to be an actor, and I still think that's impossible. But reading what you've been through really helps me. ReplyDeleteThe 'Hot Pan Fried Lobster' was a very bright solution for a fresh and yummy meal. You are an inspiration to me. I have an 8 year old grandson who is also a foodie and I am inspired to cook with him. He does help his Mother, preparing food for cooking, and he always has good ideas on spices for dishes. Keep cooking and don't worry about the days you don't feel so well -- you will feel better in a few days. I think spend your 'not well days' thinking of what to do when on your well days. Keep up your positive thoughts and great work! By the way, I am a 64 year old grandmother that has been baking and cooking since the age of 10!

ReplyDeleteHello Matisse. I was making a fire to keep my house warm when I came across this old parade magazine. Wow, what an inspiration you are. I do not have your condition but have been sickly quite often in my life. I too jump into things that make me happy, and make others happy too. Laughter can be the best medicine, along side of great food and the feeling you get from preparing and eating it. My grown son is severely allergic to shellfish. He almost died when he was only 2 yrs. old from celebrating a graduation with a great seafood fest. So I say to you, keep up the good work. Enjoy your cooking, if it's still the sparkle in your eyes and eat some really tasty seafood for my son Mike.I hope all is well with you and your family.
