Shopping at the strip district

On  Monday  my and mom went to the strip district  and  got squid, mussels, mahi mahi  and chicken.  We also got  3 lemons and  4 limes,  1 cantaloupe,  5  whole garlics and 1  jar of anchovy and some spinach -  yum.
For dinner we made lemon pepper chicken which we marinaded in lemon pepper, pan fried to seal in juices and finished off in the oven.  I find this keeps the chicken moist.
I made a really yummy spinach salad with fresh mozzarella cheese and olives and my home made zesty dressing.

Here is my dressing recipe:
The juice and zest of one lemon
Juice and zest of one lime
Salt and pepper
1 finely minced garlic clove
Onion zest
splash of olive oil
Oil from the olives that I put in the salad

Mix together and put on salad.

We went  to a little cafe  and had tomato and basil  Margaretta pizza  and a pastry.  It was  good.

  1. HI Matisse,
I am going to make Spinach Salad with Lemon Pepper Chicken tomorrow night, I have spinach growing in my garden, and Olive Oil from the Village Press in Havelock North, do you think I could use Ricotta cheese, or should it be Mozzarella?
Can't wait to try it. Keep Cooking, lots of people were asking when you were going to make another dish in Matisse's Kitchen.

  2. Glad you're still enjoying cooking and eating Matisse :) What's the strip district? It's not a phrase I've ever heard here in the UK.

  6. Matisse,
Sydney and I really enjoy hearing about your trips to the strip district. There are so many delicious things to munch on. We like visiting Wholey's and getting the Mussells.
Is that a stack of shredded cheese on your sald? We love cheese!! Pennsylvannia Macaroni has wonderful cheese, which I'm sure you know.
Be well, dear. We enjoy your blog immensely.

  8. Just read the Parade article. Good for you, Matisse. I'm a Foodie, as well. I enter recipe and cooking contests as a hobby and win quite a few. You might enjoy doing this one day, too. Here's a link to a contesting site. It is a paid subscription site, though, so you may not be able to view the entire site. Keep cooking and keep eating well!
p.s. I know all about the Strip District as I live in an area outside of the city of Pittsburgh.
