Fish and chips - NZ style |
On Wednesday my mom and I went to the strip district. We got squid and whole fish. The man serving us thought it was unusual to get squid tentacles and he did not really know much about the fish he gave us either.
I learned how to bone and filet a fish (I will have video up soon). It is really hard.
Dad and I made fish and chips with pouched eggs and calamari. I made beer batter out of the edmonds cook book.
I think I am going to have a go at making clam chowder.
That looks fantastic TC. Those chips are perfect. I love squid too.It is hard to cook squid so it's just right -you are very clever.
ReplyDeleteyummy in my tummy we ( fanatico family ) went out to a seafood restaurant i thought of you. Because i am guessing you LOVE fish :) i made home made potato chips friday Fun. but hard. cant wait to see the video!

ReplyDeletelearning how to fillet a fish, well done! i'm a lot older than you, and i can't do that, i ask my partner to do that.
That looks delish Matisse - my husband loves fish & chips. I linked your blog to my reader so I will get all your updates and try to comment when I can - even when I don't I'll be reading! You look great by the way and I'm so happy to read your good updates!
ReplyDeleteCall us when the clam chowder is served! Tom LOVES it. You put me to shame because I can't be bothered cooking alot of the time.
ReplyDeleteMatisse do you think when I come back to Pgh I can hire you to do a dinner party? Everything you make looks so good!
ReplyDeleteMatisse, my 9 year old daughter and I have been following your posts since you decorated a cake so beautifully! I think you are an amazing girl and want you to continue this blog so I can become a better cook in the kitchen (I'm 38 years old!) lol! When I read this day's blog, I thought about my life as a little girl on the Northeastern shore buying Chesapeake Bay crabs by the bushel (4 pecks to you?) and eating pounds of steamed shrimp all by myself. Sydney and I wish you well!
ReplyDeleteMatisse, every time I read your blog I get HUNGRY. You are the chef!!! See you Wednesday, you better rest up! LOL
